TATA IPL 2026 Match 15: Mukul Choudhary & Ayush Badoni Power LSG to Miraculous Last-Ball Win in KKR vs LSG
The Eden Gardens witnessed a finish for the ages as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) snatched victory from the jaws of certain defeat, overcoming the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three wickets on the final delivery of Match 15. Chasing 182, LSG were dead and buried before Mukul Choudhary unleashed a historic assault, leaving the Kolkata faithful in stunned silence and KKR still searching for their first win of the season.

The Essentials
- The Choudhary Carnage: Walking in with the chase crumbling, Mukul Choudhary played the innings of a lifetime. His unbeaten 54 off 27 balls* was powered by seven massive sixes, including two in a nerve-shredding final over that turned a lost cause into a legendary win.
- The 15-Over Squeeze vs. Final-Over Surge: KKR’s innings was a game of two halves. After being choked by LSG’s spinners to just 115/3 in 15 overs, Rovman Powell (39*) and Cameron Green (32*) exploded for 66 runs in the final five overs to set a formidable target of 181.
- A Record-Breaking Rearguard: In one of the most lopsided yet effective partnerships in IPL history, Mukul Choudhary and Avesh Khan added 54 runs for the 8th wicket, the highest ever in a successful IPL chase. Remarkably, Choudhary scored 52 of those runs, while Avesh contributed just a single.
The Pulse
The night began with LSG winning the toss and electing to bowl. While Finn Allen fell early, Ajinkya Rahane (41) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (45) appeared to be cruising with an 84-run second-wicket stand. However, a sudden collapse in the middle overs saw KKR lose momentum entirely. It took a late-innings blitz from Rovman Powell and Cameron Green to drag the score to 181/4, giving the KKR bowlers a fighting chance.
LSG’s response started with a bang as Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh raced to 41 inside four overs. But the introduction of Vaibhav Arora flipped the script, triggering a middle-order meltdown. When Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran, and Abdul Samad departed cheaply, LSG were reeling at 104/5. Ayush Badoni (50) kept the flame flickering with a gritty half-century but his dismissal followed by Mohammed Shami’s exit left LSG staring at an impossible task.
Then came the Choudhary show. With the asking rate skyrocketing, Mukul unleashed “helicopter” swings and merciless pulls. It came down to 14 needed off the last over. After a single from Avesh, Choudhary smashed a six, survived two dots and then smoked a wide yorker over deep cover for another maximum. On the final ball, with one needed, a wild swing, a missed direct hit from Raghuvanshi, and a frantic single completed the heist.

The Inside Intel
Tactically, KKR will rue their inability to close out the game despite having LSG seven wickets down. While Vaibhav Arora was the architect of the early collapse, the decision to bowl full and wide to Choudhary in the final over backfired spectacularly. For LSG, the “Badoni-Mukul” insurance policy proved why they are one of the deepest batting lineups in the tournament. Choudhary’s ability to stay calm during two dot balls in the final over showed a veteran’s temperament in a young power-hitter’s body.
The UDHQ Take
At Unbox Daily HQ, we’re calling this “The Eden Heist”. To score 52 out of 54 runs in a match-winning partnership is a level of dominance rarely seen in the T20 format. While KKR showed life with their late-inning batting surge, their bowling unit looked shell-shocked the moment Mukul started clearing the ropes. LSG are officially back in the hunt for the Top 4, while KKR needs to find a way to win the “big moments” before their season slips away entirely.
